- Please find attached 2012 Public Speaking 'tips' for all students and their families.
At Corrimal Public School we place great value in our public speaking. In order to provide greater opportunities for students who are developing these skills we will be running our school based public speaking competition again in 2012.
All students from Kindergarten to Year 6 will be expected to participate. They will need to prepare a short speech on an open-ended topic to be presented in front of their class. As much as possible the content for the speech should come from the students' ideas. Parents could help by discussing and suggesting ideas that might be useful and by listening to the students when they practice their completed presentations. One student from each grade will be given the opportunity to present at a whole school assembly.
The competition will proceed as follows:Tips for Public Speaking (pdf, 66 KB)
- Term 2, Week 6- Topics and competition details sent home and discussed in class. Students are to prepare and rehearse their speeches at home.
- Term 2, Week 9 and 10– Class presentations. Classroom teachers will inform students of their presentation date.
- Term 3, Week 3– Three finalists from each grade will present again, and complete an impromptu speech (Kindergarten exempted). Grade winners will then present during assembly in this week.
