Mathematics

The study of mathematics is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.

By studying mathematics, students learn to work mathematically – developing fluency, understanding, problem-solving, reasoning and communication skills.

The syllabus consists of the following strands:

  • number and algebra
  • measurement and geometry
  • statistics and probability.

Our parent numeracy session held during Term 2 was a huge success.

Thank you very much to Kerry F from Corrimal High School for running this event with us. Your knowledge and skills are invaluable to the staff, students, parents and carers.

As a parent/carer, knowing what you child is learning and Mathematics and how they are learning it helps you to support them throughout their education. This evening was a hands on experience where parents/carers were lead through a short information session on the two programs we have running here at Corrimal Public School, TEN and TOWN, followed by the opportunity to engage in some of the 'games' the children play during their maths groups.

The feedback from this night was overwhelmingly positive and we look forward to continuing to support out community in this area.

Below are some of the handouts from the session that you may find helpful to support your child's learning at home:
