Four Primary Schools (Bellambi, Corrimal, Towradgi and Tarrawanna) attended RoboClub at Corrimal High School in 2012. The first challenge was to learn the programming code and then compete in a SUMObot competition.
The Challenge for 2012 was released and this year was ‘Senior Solutions'. Four Corrimal Teams completed on Saturday 8/12, two primary school teams (Man vs Machine and Code Violation) and two high school teams (MCJJ Roadhouse and Seekers). The robots were programmed to overcome everyday challenges that elderly people might face and the teams also had to design an invention to aid the elderly in their everyday life. Both primary teams featured on Weekend Sunrise (Channel 7) and were interviewed about their robots and inventions.
Code Violation absolutely smashed the challenge and was in 6thplace, then 8thand at the last second knocked down to 9thplace. Unfortunately, only the 8 top teams progress to the National competition. Man vs Machine won a judge's trophy (an actual Lego Trophy) for encouragement and overcoming all obstacles to compete effectively in this prestigious competition. Congratulations to all the teams, your dedication and hard work paid off and you were a sensation. We are incredibly proud of you and invite you to join us again at Corrimal High School in 2013.
Thank you.
